This is the beautiful Itchen in Hampshire, England. It flows from mid-Hampshire to join with Southampton Water below the Itchen Bridge in the city of Southampton. The river has a total length of 28 miles (45 km), and is noted as one of the world's premier chalk streams for fly fishing, especially using dry fly or nymphing techniques. You can fish here all year round winter grayling fishing is a must as the day ticket price is quite reasonable. It is easily one of the most important chalk streams of the united kingdom and should really on your list! The Itchen has plenty of clubs and fisheries that have access to the water, but in particular, you should keep in mind the lower kitchen fishery very close to Southampton and the airport it has great infrastructure so, you can easily catch a flight to Southampton, spend a few nights in a local pub and fish these delightful waters during the day. If you are a dry fly fan then the MayFly Ephemera Danica hatch is a must. If you are a nymph fan then the winter grayling should be on your list.
